If you have been
following the news of the North Baltimore Local Schools recently, you
know that the Ohio School’s Facilities Commission has informed the
Board of Education that the State of Ohio will assist the district in
funding improvements to our school facilities. The amount of funding
from the state will be $12,112,577 if the district can raise
$9,996,000 through a combined 7.44 mill bond and .25% income tax.
The Board of Education
has created a Facility Planning Committee that has been meeting over
the past school year. The Facility Planning Committee’s three (3)
goals were to 1) develop a community engagement plan, 2) serve as a
mechanism for community input into discussions regarding the proposed
building improvements leading to the district’s Master Plan, and 3)
lead the effort to pass the required bond and income tax issue. Goals
1 and 2 have been ongoing and will continue to evolve with community
input. Our main focus this fall will be on goal 3, leading the effort
to pass the required bond and income tax issue.
We have obtained
assistance in all three areas from our architectural engineering firm
of Fanning & Howey Associates. Ultimately, however, it is up to
us, the citizens of the North Baltimore School District to recognize
the need for new facilities and to help share that vision with others.
North Baltimore needs to take full advantage of the State’s generous
offer of assistance to improve our facilities for the students of our
community.
You are invited to
serve on this very important Facility Committee. I sincerely hope that
you will accept my invitation and attend our next meeting. This
meeting will be held in the high school building at 6:00 PM on
Thursday, August 28, 2008.
In order for our
community to achieve the opportunity of a lifetime, your support, your
input, your leadership, and your presence is needed. Please make the
commitment to help North Baltimore grow and prosper in the 21st
century.
Sincerely,
Kyle D. Clark
Superintendent
