Postponement of April 7th Meeting

The Facility Planning Committee ( FPC ) Meeting scheduled for Monday, April 7, 2008 has been postponed.  New projected enrollment data and new 2008 construction costs will be released in late April.  These two factors are needed as the FCP meets to discuss specific locally funded initiatives.

The FPC meeting will be rescheduled when accurate enrollment projections and 2008 cost estimates are received.  Enrollment projections are completed by a company hired by the Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC).   They base their projections on past enrollment, present birth rates, new construction permits and new housing construction.  This data is used to predict North Baltimore ’s projected enrollment ten years into the future.

Any building and or renovation project that is con-funded by the OSFC uses an enrollment projection in order to determine the square footage that a district qualifies for.  Having both accurate enrollment projections and new updated construction costs will give the Facility Planning Committee and the community more reliable data when figuring the cost of our building project.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the superintendent’s office at 419-257-3531 or email at nb_supt@noacsc.org

Committee Members:  I will let you know when we can reschedule the meeting as soon as possible!!

New School Facility Update

The Facility Planning Committee (FCP) continues to meet throughout the spring of 2008. A General Master Plan was developed by the FCP and recommended to the North Baltimore Board of Education in December. The Master Plan calls for a new 6 – 12 building to be constructed, and renovations at the elementary building to meet present code.

The Ohio School Facility Commission is partnering with the North Baltimore Community and will pay 59% of the construction cost, while North Baltimore residents will pay 41% of the construction costs. OSFC guidelines dictate that any desired construction beyond minimum educational standards must be paid 100% by the local district as a Locally Funded Initiative (LFI).

The cost of any new land, providing utilities to the construction site, additional educational space beyond minimum requirements, and athletic facilities are all considered to be LFI’s. Presently the Facility Planning Committee members are exploring possible LFI’s for the new building.

A land committee has been formed and is currently has been meeting to identify potential building sites. Once sites are identified the committee makes contact with landowners to discuss any interest they may have in selling property for the new school. If anyone has property they feel would make a good building site, please contact Kyle Clark, school superintendent at 419-257-3531.
